Top Local Schools & How Ratings Impact Home Prices

A neighbourhood's school ratings has become a very important factor for home buyers.  Parents have increasingly made this a top search criteria item.  There is a lot of research that shows that there is a strong correlation between home values and school ratings.

Buyers are Willing to Pay More for Good Schools

A large study completed by realtor.com showed that 91% of buyers said school boundaries were important in their search.  The study also showed that buyers were also willing to sacrifice features of a home to get into a better school district.  Oh the things we do for kids.

Good Schools Increase & Protect Home Values

An interesting study in the US analyzed home prices between 2006 and 2009.  The researcher's major finding was that great schools tended to stabilize values during the national decline, much better than those with only mediocre schools nearby.
