About Hamilton

While Hamilton still holds true to its industrial roots, the revitalized downtown area now offers cafes and galleries as well as trendy new restaurants and shops in the old storefronts. A diverse population makes Hamilton the ideal setting for film and television productions, and there is an ever increasing art scene. This vibrant city of over half a million is a cosmopolitan mix, with an estimated 20% of Hamilton residents born outside of the country. Home to world renowned McMaster University, and Mohawk College, Hamilton is an educational hub as well.

There is a Public Art Calendar for artists who want to display their creations in public places, as well as a multitude of galleries and festivals throughout the year. Hamilton is home to the Royal Botanical Gardens, as well as numerous performing arts, music venues and theater.

Astonishing natural beauty is a highlight of the city of Hamilton. From dramatic waterfalls, escarpment lookouts, and deep forests, residents can indulge in the surrounding oases that are only minutes away from the bustling downtown. There are activities and restaurants on the beach including waterside Adventure Village. Hamilton is home to eight beautiful hiking and biking trails that lead through cliffs, caves, beaches and forests. Confederation Park is a 93-hectare fun-filled space on the lake with go-karts, batting cages, miniature golf and more designed for family enjoyment.

Hamilton is connected to Toronto and other major cities in The GTA via the Queen Elizabeth Way superhighway and GO Transit station.
